Representatives from The Carers’ Centre joined charities and community organisations from across Somerset and Bath and North East Somerset this month, at a special Garden Party celebrating the contribution of volunteers.
Hosted by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset, Mohammed Saddiq, at the spectacular Marston House near Frome, the event acknowledged the many “grass roots” volunteers who give their time, skills and energy to support their communities.
Jenny Theed, Trustee, and Lyndon Hughes, one of our regular café volunteers, attended on behalf of The Carers’ Centre, taking the opportunity to share the charity’s work supporting unpaid carers across Bath and North East Somerset, while hearing about the valuable contribution volunteers are making in communities across Somerset.
“It was such a special event and a real celebration of what it means to be a volunteer,” said Jenny. “We were able to meet so many interesting people, tell them about the great work The Carers’ Centre is doing and hear about the fantastic work volunteers are doing in so many different parts of our community.”
For The Carers’ Centre, volunteers are an important part of the charity’s work supporting unpaid carers of all ages across Bath and North East Somerset.
The event provided an opportunity not only to celebrate volunteering, but also to build connections with other organisations and discover more about the many different ways people are making a difference across the region.
