Hear from our Young Carers

"The Young Carers Council has been formed to have us represent all young carers and we are able to do that. It feels good that we actually get to speak first hand rather than it coming from the mouth of someone else. That’s what makes it so unique. We are here to speak for those who can’t be here to speak for themselves."

Frequently asked questions

Here's some answer to common questions about The Young Carers Council.

Who can join the Young Carers Council?

The Young Carers Council is open to any young carer registered with the Carers' Centre. It doesn't matter how old you are - your voice is important! The Council does have limited capacity, so we may need to add your name to a waiting list. If you would like more information please contact Leanna on info@banescarerscentre.org.uk or 0800 0388 885.

How often does the Young Carers Council meet?

Currently The Young Carers Council (YCC) meets monthly in person at The Carers' Centre in Bath.

Can I try the Young Carers Council out before I decide to join?

Of course! Once you've chatted to us to find out more, and as long as there is space at the group, you are welcome to one of our meetings just to see what happens and meet the other young carers who are involved. If you like it, you can carry on coming. If it's not for you, that's fine too.

How do I join the Young Carers Council?

Email Leanna on info@banescarerscentre.org.uk or ring 0800 0388 885 and we'll talk to you about what's involved and what to expect.

What if I miss a session, can I still be in the group?

Of course! We know it can be difficult to fit everything in sometimes. You don't need to come to every session we have - you are welcome to as many as you are able to attend.

Can you provide transport to help me get to a session?

Transport is limited to those who have no other means to attend. There are age restrictions for taxis, and we can offer reimbursement for public transport. Please get in touch to discuss further.
