The benefits of registering with The Carers' Centre
How to register with us
Carers can be registered with The Carers’ Centre in the following ways:
By self-referring, using the form on our website (there is a separate form for registering young carers)
By calling our free support line – details below
By asking your GP or another professional you might be in contact with, to refer you via our website.
What are the benefits?
Adult carers like you find a range of benefits from registering with us. If you’re unsure whether registering with us is right for you, why not call our Support line to ask?
These include:
The emotional reassurance that comes with being ‘on our books’, and us knowing that you’re a carer looking after someone else
Access to our Freephone support line, open Monday – Friday, 9am – 1pm, or email us any time. Our support team can give you personalised advice, or just be the listening ear that you need, no matter how long you’ve been a carer. If you’re registered with us, we get to know you and your caring role, which helps us give you more tailored advice over time.
Access to our wide range of FREE carer cafes and wellbeing activities – from wellbeing walks to craft activities and days out, there is something for everyone, to enable you to take some time out from your caring role and meet others.
Financial guidance and emergency planning – our support team can give you advice on grants and benefits you might be eligible for, or how to manage your bills and debts. They can also help you plan to manage emergencies, so that you’re prepared for any unexpected challenges life may present.
Contact with members of our 8,000-strong community: carers who understand the highs and the challenges of caring for a loved one, with whom you can vent, or just ‘be’ – without having to explain yourself. Read some of carers’ stories here.
Having a ‘carer card’ to carry with you, with details of the named person who can be contacted if you’re affected by an emergency. Showing this card can also get you free or discounted entrance to some places etc.
Our free quarterly magazine, called Caretime, which will be posted to you four times a year. You can also receive our e-newsletters and find regular news and information on our website
Access to our self-help service, Bridgit where AI coaches can give you personalised support and information, day and night.
Our dedicated Support Team is here to help you, if you'd like to register with us over the phone.
Please call Freephone 0800 0388 885 or email support@banescarerscentre.org.uk to book your meeting with the team.
What about young carers?
Young carers who are registered with us can benefit from a wide range of free breaks and wellbeing activities, which are vital for supporting their mental health, social connections, and overall wellbeing.
We also offer young carers a carers’ assessment and personalised advice and support, including a tailor-made action plan that includes coping strategies for those struggling with their mental health, and advice on how to manage their caring role.
This includes providing information and referring young carers to other services that could help with specific needs.
