Become an Activity Support Volunteer

What you will do

Your responsibilities can vary as an Activity Support Volunteer, depending on the type of activity you support. In a nutshell, you will help carers to take time for themselves, connect with others and have fun! Common tasks you can expect to take on are outlined below.

Offer a warm welcome

This may include taking a register, making hot drinks and helping carers settle in.

Set up activities

Create a comfortable environment and help to take down and clean up.

Support activities

Be on hand to make introductions and encourage participation.

Day trips

Help manage group travel on outings.

Please note, for this role you will be required to provide character references and complete a Disclosure and Barring Service check. These will be organised with you, by The Carers’ Centre once you are accepted.

About you

You are a friendly and sociable person that enjoys being around people. You will have excellent listening skills and will be able to empathise with others. You thrive working as part of a team and will ensure everyone is included and feels valued. If you'd like to support online activities, you will be confident in using electronic devices and online platforms like Zoom.

Volunteers are vital to our work in helping unpaid carers, we pledge to provide you with ongoing support throughout your time with us as a volunteer, you will be provided with a full induction and by joining us you will be making a difference to the lives of unpaid carers.

We will, of course, reimburse any out-of-pocket expenses to support you in your role.
