Sara conquers Snowdon for The Carers’ Centre!
Local carer Sara recently took on the epic challenge to hike to the summit of Snowdon (the highest mountain in Wales!) to raise funds for The Carers’ Centre.
As a keen walker and regular on our carer wellbeing activities, Sara felt inspired to take on the challenge to help raise vital funds other unpaid carers in the local community who need support.
Despite some boiling hot weather and tough moments along the way, Sara made it to the Snowdon summit!
She has kindly shared her memories below…
"Wow! What an experience it was, at times it was hard, hot and the trail went on forever. A last-minute change of path gave us fantastic views and really made the walk enjoyable as well as tough. The views all the way up were amazing, and I’d recommend anyone who considers this challenge to train well, plan and carry everything that the experts recommend."
"I wanted to do this challenge to give something back to The Carers’ Centre because of the support they have given me since the pandemic. I had never considered myself as a carer, I was just doing what I believe everyone does for their family. Once introduced to other carers I realised just how important it is to share our stories and be able to support others who are in similar situations."
"The Carers' Centre put on many lovely free breaks for carers and I want to enable them to help more people by raising funds for them. I thoroughly enjoy the group sessions and can see how important it is for carers to have somewhere to meet with others, have a chat, laugh and get support."
Sara - a huge well done and thank you from all of us for raising around £350!
