Come together over a cuppa!

Carer Cafe's

It can be difficult to look after our own health and wellbeing when we care for someone else, and it has been even more challenging during the pandemic.

You told us how important it is to get a break from caring and to meet others that understand the challenges you face. We listened, and created a range of social get-togethers online, over the phone and face to face.

Be a part of our supportive community and join a Carer Café today.

Upcoming Carer Cafés

By joining The Carers’ Centre, you have joined a supportive community of people who understand the difficulty of taking care of ourselves, when we look after someone else.

Come together online, over the phone or in person at our regular get-togethers!

What our community say!

The cafés provide dedicated time for you, away from your caring responsibilities. You can share your experiences, gain knowledge from others and meet wonderful people. Hear from our members in the video!

Everything you need to know!

Here's some answer to common questions about Carer Café sessions. If you have a question that you can’t find the answer to, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our friendly team. Call us on 0800 038 8885 (Mon – Fri, 9am – 1pm) or email info@banescarerscentre.org.uk.

Yes! Our friendly team are on hand to help you access a Carer Café. We can discuss any barriers you may have to joining a session like transport issues, care cover for your loved one or challenges with technology.

If this is your first time joining us, you will receive a welcome call or email from a member of the team, they will discuss what to expect. Although every session is different, we have provided a brief outline.

1. Welcome and introductions.
2. The café host will start the session and help the conversation flow.
3. After chatting away and listening to others, we’re sure you’ll miss the time so the host will let you know when the café is nearing the end!

Don't worry! We know this can happen from time to time. We just ask that you let us know you are running late by calling 0800 038 8885 (Mon – Fri, 9am – 1pm) or emailing info@banescarerscentre.org.uk.

We’ll keep in touch with you in between sessions and provide a reminder a few days before the session. If you are unable to attend, that’s OK just let us know by calling 0800 038 8885 (Mon – Fri, 9am – 1pm) or emailing info@banescarerscentre.org.uk.

Just pop in! You can join or leave conversations whenever it suits you. Some people stay for the whole event, particularly online, whereas others will arrive late, or leave early, to fit around other commitments.

You also don't need to worry about attending every event, just come when you can, but do let us know if you aren't going to be there so we can be sure not to worry about you!

We understand that it can feel daunting to join a new group. We want to reassure you that these sessions are a supportive and respectful space for you to be as involved as you like.

A host will be on hand to support you every step of the way and you can ask questions at any time. We’re a friendly bunch and you will get to know people in no time! If you feel particularly anxious about attending and would like some extra support, please let us know by calling 0800 038 8885 (Mon – Fri, 9am – 1pm) or emailing info@banescarerscentre.org.uk.

Everyone is given a chance to contribute without interruption, but there is no pressure to speak during a session. If you’d prefer to sit back and listen during an online or phone café when it’s your turn, you can simply pass it on to the next person.

Yes, some members will have their cameras switched on and some prefer to switch it off.

We encourage you to find a quiet and private place to join an online and/or phone café. Headphones are useful if you are worried the conversation may be overheard and you can leave the session at any time.

If it’s not possible for you to find a quiet place or to use headphones you may wish to consider other opportunities for connection such as joining a face-to-face café or activity. Please let us know if you’d like more information about other possibilities by calling 0800 038 8885 (Mon – Fri, 9am – 1pm) or emailing info@banescarerscentre.org.uk.
