Derek has been a Chief Executive/Chief Operating Officer in large U.S. multi-national corporations for over 30 years, most recently as the Global COO for the Consulting Division of Aon. He has an operational and financial background with experience in managing performance and change across countries in Europe, the US and Asia.

After retiring from corporate life Derek spent four years as COO for Magic Breakfast, a UK children’s charity, to support their growth, implement new finance and HR systems and improve reporting and governance.

For the last 14 years Derek has been, and continues to be, a Trustee of a Multi Academy Trust and was Treasurer of Médecins Sans Frontières UK for five years.

Derek has focused his efforts in the charity sector on humanitarian, educational and community activities – supporting those who care for and enable others.

Having moved from London to North East Somerset in 2023, Derek was keen to join The Carers’ Centre because of the important work providing support to local carers and also the need to be able to reach and support the many more carers we have in Bath and North East Somerset.
