HRH The Duke of Gloucester Visits Young Carers
His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester visited the Carers’ Centre in Bath this week, as part of a larger tour of Bath including the Holbourne and American Museums. He was accompanied by the Lord Lieutenant of Somerset Mrs. Annie Maw.
The Duke of Gloucester’s visit coincided with the burying of a time capsule designed by young carers in the garden at the rear of the centre.
The capsule contains thoughts, memories and future hopes of young carers, to be opened in twenty one years’ time, when the Carers’ Centre will be celebrating its forty second birthday.
The Duke of Gloucester met with young and adult carers who shared their views with him, as well as enjoying an exhibition of art by carers of all ages and viewing a willow-weaving break activity.
Carers’ Centre Acting Chief Executive David Trumper said:
“Unpaid carers make a huge contribution to society and it’s a great recognition of their importance that we are honoured with this visit.”
